The World Needs Better Writers

Capitalism is about to destroy the world, and capitalism can’t be reformed, so it must be ended. To do that, we must persuade nearly everyone. Apparently none of us has explained this situation well enough yet. The following discussion may not do the job, but perhaps it will inspire a few more writers to join the effort.

For millennia we’ve been tormented by war, poverty, injustice, lies, cruelty, etc. And recently we’re nearing extinction, by nuclear war and/or climate collapse. Much of our society is unaware of the crises; they are fooled by propaganda of our corrupt rulers and omissions of the corporate news.

All of our problems can be traced to capitalism, or more broadly to hierarchy and property. But our culture has been based on those two institutions for 12,000 years, and by now few people can imagine a different world, and even those few have difficulty explaining it. We need better explanations. We don’t need more books that are longer than the patience of readers; we already have lots of those. No, we need short and simple essays, songs, stories, films, meetings, one-on-one conversations, whatever. Can you join the effort?
