Anticapitalism Trading Cards
I now have 6 trading cards (scroll down to see them); I may be adding more soon. And I hope many of my friends will add to the collection.
The cards are near, but not the same as, the size of baseball cards or other collectible cards. I use the term “trading card” only to refer only to the size of the cards, not to any actual trading. It’s my intention that people will give these cards away for free, and reproduce them freely too. The PDF file supplied for each card should print easily onto two sides of a letter-size piece of cardstock. (I recommend against using perforated cardstock, because it’s hard to print on both sides of that stuff.)
INSTRUCTIONS: Here are blank templates for one or four cards. Or, if you write the essay, I’ll do the formatting. With the font I’m using and no pictures it’s around 250 words / 1500 characters. An essay about 2/3 that long leaves room for a picture or two. Here are some suggested topics, to be written by people who know more than I do:
- Ideas or biography of some famous anticapitalist, such as Lenin, Mao, Bakunin, Kropotkin
- An anticapitalist who is famous for something else, e.g., Einstein, Helen Keller
- An interesting / unusual anticapitalist, e.g., Loukanikos the Greek anarchist dog
- The Paris Commune, the October Revolution, the situationists, Occupy, some other historic uprising
- Something about theory, e.g., the labor theory of value (can you make it understandable?), what would democracy in the workplace be like, what would sharing be like
- Some particular war, or other major crime of capitalism
